The Power of Vulnerability to Make You Rich and Famous

What if Mr. Clean, The Energizer Bunny, and Ronald McDonald all embraced the cash cow that is #VULNERABILITY? What are they waiting for?

Hell, forget them! What are YOU waiting for?

Fire your marketing department. You don’t need a TEAM. You just need an iPhone camera and a tear in your eye to start tapping into the $1 trillion+ vulnerability economy.

The conversation has gone from “the power of vulnerability” to “the power of MONETIZING vulnerability.”

When Brené Brown started talking about how transformative vulnerability could be, this slowly got translated into, “Vulnerability will make you money.”

And, while, in some ways this can be true – online marketing culture has “vulnerability” all wrong.

Vulnerability isn’t about airing your dirty laundry on social media or showing up on video wearing day old clothes, with blurry close ups of what you’re having for dinner.

It’s not about “confessing” that you once were at rock bottom but then you discovered The Secret and now that life’s amazing, you thought it was time to “get real” about your embarrassing pre-Lambo lifestyle.

Vulnerability is about doing. Showing up. Being seen. Doing the damn thing. Being willing to ask for help. Admitting you’re wrong. Being compassionate with others.

Catch this episode of Awkward Marketing for how vulnerability can reduce turnover, spark innovation, and maybe even make you more money WINK WINK withouuuuut introducing all your followers to the skeletons in your closet.

With lessons from Brené Brown, of course + a secret I learned from Amy Porterfield.
